Transfer a Pet Between Clients

The Transfer Pet feature allows you to move a pet from one client record to another while keeping historical records intact. This is useful when ownership changes, records were created under the wrong client, or details need correcting.

How to Transfer a Pet

  1. Open the pet record you’d like to move.

  2. Click Edit Pet.


  3. Select the new Transfer button.

  4. Choose the client you’d like to transfer the pet to.


  5. Confirm the transfer.

What Happens During a Transfer

  • The pet is moved to the new client’s account

  • Medical history, appointments, and invoices remain linked to the previous owner

  • No debt or outstanding balance is transferred to the new client

  • Historical records stay accurate and auditable

This ensures financial records remain correct while allowing the pet to be associated with the right owner going forward.

When to Use This Feature

  • Ownership changes (e.g. rehoming or sale)

  • A pet was added to the wrong client account

  • Client details were duplicated or merged incorrectly

Important Things to Note

  • The transfer only affects pet ownership going forward

  • Past invoices and appointments will not move to the new client

  • Any outstanding balances stay with the original client
