Lupa integrates with Zoetis diagnostic services, allowing you to order lab tests through the VetScan platforms directly from within a consultation. Once connected, you can browse available tests, submit orders electronically, and receive results back into Lupa β all without switching between systems.
Before You Begin
π Prerequisites:
An active Zoetis diagnostic account (VetScan)
Your Zoetis VetScan credentials and Provider integration ID
The Diagnostic Integrations permission in Lupa to configure integrations
Connecting Your Zoetis Integration
You can connect your practice's Zoetis VetScan integration directly from Lupa β no need to contact support.
Go to Settings and select Diagnostic Integrations from the left sidebar.
Click Add integration.
In the Provider list, select Zoetis VetScan.
Enter a Display name for this integration (for example, "VetScan In-House").
Enter your Provider integration ID β this is supplied by Zoetis.
Enter your credentials in the section that appears.
Make sure Enabled is turned on. Disabled integrations are hidden from order placement and won't sync results.
Click Save.
Lupa confirms with a "Diagnostic integration created" message and the integration appears in your list.
π‘ Company-wide integrations β if your organisation has set up a Zoetis integration at company level, it appears in this list marked Company-wide. You can see it but cannot edit it from store settings.
Editing an existing integration
On the Diagnostic Integrations page, find the integration and click Edit.
Update the Display name, Provider integration ID, or the Enabled toggle as needed.
To update your credentials, turn on Replace credentials and enter the new values. If you leave this off, your existing credentials are kept.
Click Save.
β οΈ Disabling an integration stops it appearing in order placement and pauses result syncing. To take an integration out of use, turn off the Enabled toggle rather than deleting it.

Setting Up Lab Fee Automation for Zoetis
Once your Zoetis integration is active, you can link Lupa services to Zoetis test types so billing happens automatically when tests are ordered. Zoetis VetScan is in-house only β all tests run on VetScan point-of-care analysers in your practice. For a full overview of how the automation works day-to-day, see .
Option A: Link individual services (no reference list needed)
Go to Settings β Services in the left sidebar.
Find the service you want to link (e.g. "In-House Blood Chemistry").
Click the three-dot menu and select Edit.
Toggle Is External? on.
Click the Diagnostic Integration dropdown and select Zoetis VetScan.
Click Linked Diagnostic Test Type and search for the test.
Select the matching test and click Save.
Repeat for each service.
π‘ Is External tells Lupa this service has an external cost. Only services marked as External can be linked to diagnostic tests. If the diagnostic fields don't appear, check that the service doesn't inherit from a reference list.
Option B: Bulk import via Zoetis Reference List
You can create a reference list for Zoetis the same way as IDEXX:
Go to Company level β Settings β Reference Lists.
Click on a reference services list or create a new one for Zoetis tests.
Click Creat β Lupa imports the full Internal Zoetis test catalogue.
Set your pricing and VAT, then send those test to your store by toggling on Access.
π‘ Since Zoetis is in-house only, all imported tests will need you to set pricing manually β there are no external procurement costs from a reference lab.
π A reference list can only be linked to one diagnostic provider. If you use both IDEXX and Zoetis, set up a separate reference list for each.
β οΈ Changing the integration resets the test type. If you switch from Zoetis to IDEXX (or vice versa) in the integration dropdown, the linked test type clears and you'll need to re-select it.
Tips
β Best practices:
Always add ordered tests to the invoice at the time of ordering to prevent missed charges
Use the species filter to avoid ordering irrelevant tests
Monitor partial results β some panels deliver individual analytes early
If results don't appear, check the order status on the Diagnostics page. Allow adequate time for external lab processing
Troubleshooting
Problem | Solution |
No tests listed after selecting Zoetis | Ensure your Zoetis account has the test catalogue enabled. Contact Lupa support to verify your account configuration |
Order stuck in "Ordered" status | For external lab tests, allow 1-3 business days. If the status doesn't update, contact Zoetis support to check the order on their side |
Error placing an order | Check the error details on the order. Common causes include missing patient data or service interruptions. Correct the issue and try again |
